Biography

Issy Kipnis is a Senior Principal Engineer and Associate Director of Intel Labs Berkeley. He holds an Ingeniero en Electrónica (BSEE) degree from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. Mexico City, and a MSE in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. From 1981 to 1983, he worked for Fairchild Camera and Instruments in Palo Alto, CA, designing microprocessors utilizing integrated injection logic technology.

From 1983 to 1990, he was a senior member of technical staff at Avantek in Newark, CA, working in the design of radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs). From 1990 to 1997, he was a senior staff at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA, where he led the design of the detector readout ICs for the BaBar Silicon Vertex Tracker and the Atlas Semiconductor Strip Tracker. From 1997 to 2000, he was a R&D section manager at HP/Agilent Technologies in Newark, CA, managing and leading a team in the design and development of radio chipsets for CDMA mobile handsets.

He joined Intel in 2000 where he has been involved in the design and development of RF, wired and optical integrated transceivers for RFID, cellular phones, Bluetooth, high-speed serial and sonet applications. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
